A. Studies show the value of return is excellent if the work is done properly. Landscaping is the first thing people see.

Q. What phase of landscaping should be done first?
A. What we call 'hardscape' should be done first - walkways, walls, stone patios and all of the irrigation and electrical work. Plantings should be last.

Q. What should we do about deer?
A. Plants that deer don't like include: Boxwood, Andromeda, Barberry, Spruce, Birch. If you stay with those, your landscape should be fine.

Q. How can we plan the landscape for low maintenance?
A. Install small plant beds, fill the beds with plants (perennials- where possible), mulch 3" thick, pick the right plants for sun exposure, soil type, and moisture, and your gardens should be fine.
